LIQUID METAL

The 80’s are coming back in a big way. Us nineties babies have had our time long enough, it’s time to share the spotlight (even though I never get sick of anything nineties related). Did Stranger Things reawaken this 80’s nostalgia? Or maybe it was our love for synths in pop music. The plethora of runway styles inspired by the decade of less is not more are currently trickling down to streetwear. A few reworked trends characteristic of the decade are exaggerated ruffles, strong shoulders, white shoes, sequins, and high-shine fabrics.

Most of these  trends don’t seem so easy to break out in the daylight, but you can leave the lamé for a night out and grab a pair of high-shine metallics booties for a fun statement piece anytime. My personal favorites are rendered in silver patent leather, shiny to the point of being mirror-like like the Topshop pair on Lucy Williams of Fashion Me Now above. I love how they almost look like molten metal.

Metallic boots look just as good during the day with jeans or other casual pants as they look with a mini skirt or dress at night. I think these would look so punk rock cool with a leather mini or ripped jeans and a band tee. Follow the links below to shop some of my favorite silver boots, including that awesome Topshop pair.
